Director of Business Development

SUMMARY

The Director of Business Development is a player coach, the primary manager of the entire sales operation, and the lead developer of new accounts, responsible for acquisition, retention, and growth. This role is responsible for the development of client acquisition plans consistent with our strategy and annual plan. Emphasis on building tune-up, new construction commissioning plans, energy auditing, and management of energy savings programs. Work closely with clients to identify needs and consult on best practices for solutions and setup. Ensure clients derive maximum value from our services.

Excellent proposal development, presentation, and negotiating skills are utilized to succeed in this role. Demonstrated expertise in gaining access and selling to middle to senior-level decision-makers. Ensure a deep understanding of our services and expertise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and train the sales team.
  • Produce accurate monthly business forecasts.
  • Engage new and existing clients to provide value, offers best-in-class solutions to continuously address our client’s energy savings programs.
  • Proactively and efficiently manage resources with dedicated teams, staff, and executive staff around opportunities to ensure successful continuing client outcomes.
  • Be the subject matter expert on all our services. Own the deployment of tooling within client environments, supporting our project engineers through the entire process.
  • Ability to discuss complex architectures and deployment scenarios that are specific to the client’s environment.
  • Build and maintain a consistently new client outreach from available databases and other resources.
  • Identify new and emerging markets.
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.
  • Provide a consultative sales approach to clients.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and team-building skills and techniques are required.
  • An Entrepreneurial Spirit – able to work effectively independently.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, Communications, or Related Field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of successful sales experience as a direct contributor carrying an individual quota.
  • A minimum of 5 years of managing employees as a supervisor
  • A minimum of 5 recurring revenue sales experience is required.
  • Experience selling in the energy or industrial sector is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and creative thinking skills
  • Ability and experience selling to Manager and Director levels within the organization.
  • Experience managing and directing the entire sales cycle from beginning to close.
  • The candidate will be strategic in finding new businesses using technical knowledge and skillset.
  • Good presence, communication skills, and credibility projection
  • Attentive to forecasting and business reporting responsibilities.
  • At least an intermediate level in using Microsoft Office products. Especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using a CRM platform of some kind.
  • Proactive use of business-related platforms such as LinkedIn

Salary: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
